About Us
Aerovance is a privately held biopharmaceutical company exclusively focused on developing and commercializing breakthrough medicines for respiratory and allergic inflammatory diseases.
The company maintains a strong portfolio of novel therapeutic candidates in clinical development and several preclinical programs. The two lead products are human recombinant proteins: AEROVANT™, an IL-4 and -13 receptor antagonist for the treatment of moderate to severe asthma that is in a Phase 2b study, AeroTrial™, and Aeroderm™, a PEGylated IL-4 and IL-13 receptor antagonist for the treatment for severe eczema in preclinical studies.
Aerovance has generated positive phase 2 clinical efficacy and safety data for two indications: asthma and eczema. Other programs in the pipeline include potential treatments for cystic fibrosis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The company’s goal is to build value through the development of its lead molecule, Aerovant, in preparation for a partnership upon completion of the Aerovant Phase 2b trial in mid-2010.
Aerovance was formed in 2004 in a spin out from Bayer Healthcare's biotechnology unit. The company has raised $130 million in equity capital since formation, including $38 million in April 2009 in its third round of financing led by ProQuest Investments. Aerovance combines strong financial support, a proven executive team, experience in the field of respiratory and allergic diseases, and capabilities in biologics drug development and manufacturing.
The company’s venture capital investors are Alta Partners, APAX Partners, Burrill & Company, BB Biotech Ventures, Clarus Ventures, Lehman Brothers, ProQuest Investments and NGN Capital.
